The 2016 Beyond Flexner Conference offered a unique opportunity to learn more about the movement and how to integrate social mission into your teaching, learning and practice. The conference took place September 19-21, 2016, in Miami, Florida that proved to be immensely informative and deeply fulfilling.
The Beyond Flexner 2015 conference examined the progress of social mission innovations and reforms, as well as the moral, financial and pedagogic aspects of social purpose and social accountability in health professions education. Conferees deliberated about best practices, new schools’ programs, curricular innovations, augmented pipeline programs, teaching health centers, “upstream” medicine and the public health medicine interface.
The Beyond Flexner 2012 conference brought national attention to medical schools with strong social mission commitment, created a forum for collaboration and shared innovations, and legitimized the important role of medical education in addressing social inequities.
