Reinventing nursing’s social mission

Ann Marie Rafferty is the first Professor of Nursing Policy in the UK and former Dean, at Florence Nightingale Faculty of Nursing and Midwifery, King’s College London. Rafferty was the first nurse to gain a doctorate from Oxford University and she won the prestigious Harkness Fellowship in Health Policy. Rafferty holds fellowships from the RCN and American Academy of Nursing and leads the Lancet Commission on Nursing in the UK. Her research interests combine history, health policy and health services research.

Dr. Joe Greer Named 2017 Citizen of the Year

2016 Lifetime Achievement Award

H. Jack Geiger, MD 

Dr. Geiger received this award for a lifetime of work in health, poverty, and civil rights including marching with Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and still fighting the moral injustices that confront us daily. Dr. Geiger is a founding member of Physicians for Human Rights, Physicians for Social Responsibility (Nobel 1985), and is considered the Father of Community Health Centers in America.

Still University resulting in the development of two health center purposed dental schools and one health center purposed medical school ultimately resulting in the education of thousands of clinicians skilled in the treatment of disadvantaged populations.
